Unframed works on paper by Nate Steinberg plus mounted newspaper clippings. All images are black ink on white or beige paper unless specified otherwise. 01-05. "Old Shed" -- five lithographs numbered 1/15, 2/15, 8/15, 9/12 and 12/15. Paper 21.5" h x 14" w. Image area 12" x 9" -- Two trees flank a sunlit shed with open doors. 06. "Autumn" -- trial proof lithograph of elderly woman siting on a park bench, image printed on both sides of the page. Paper 20" h x 13.5" w. Image area 11.5" x 8.5". 07. "Sisters" -- lithograph of two young women embracing. Paper 18" h x 30" w. Image 12 x 10". 08. Untitled city street under construction -- lithograph. Paper 14" h x 18" w. Image 11 x 14". 09-10. General Dwight D. Eisenhower saluting -- 1st and 2nd proof lithographs. Paper 16" w x 14" h. Image 14x11". 11. "Yesterday's Years" -- lithograph. Paper 18" h x 13.5" w. Image 14 x 11". "Old Timer" [title erased] portrait of an elderly woman. Lithograph ED/75. Paper 13.5" h x 11.5" w. Image 10 x 8". 15-16. "Aspiration" -- lithograph, two copies marked "ED/100" A shoeshine boy hunches on the steps below the Abraham Lincoln monument in Chicago's Grant Park. 17. Three ink print-production drawings of Bob Hope. Time-stamped "1961 Mar 28 10:31 AM" on back of card stock with "Bob Hope April 17" written on front. 10" h x 14" w. 18. "Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes" print 14" h x 9.5" w. 19. Watercolor and colored pencil sketch on illustration board. 14" h x 20" w. A dripping man emerging from the water with a lily pad leaf [?] on his head. A green frog snickers nearby. 20. "Windswept" or "Study for Belle and Gusty Day" -- Pencil Sanguine on tracing or vellum paper glued to illustration board in the four corners. 20.5" h x 25" w. Red-pencil drawing of a woman, assumed to be Isabelle Steinberg, facing the wind with her hair and scarf blowing behind her. A lighthouse is visible in the distance and seagulls turn in the sky. 21 "James H. Wilkerson" portrait print dated 1945 with handwritten dedication "To N.P. Steinberg, with sincere regards and best wishes, James H. Wilkerson." The 14" h x 11" w print is mounted on a 19.5 x 15.5" chip board. James Herbert Wilkerson (1869-1948) was a United States district judge for the Northern District of Illinois best known for sentencing Al Capone to 11 years in prison for tax evasion in 1931. 22. Two photographs of a watercolor portrait of Pope Paul VI, approximately 15.5" h x 10" w. The b/w print is sharp. The color print, mounted on the back of the first, is blurry. A montage of press and letters about the portrait are mounted on a 18" h x 24" w blue poster board. Steinberg presented the portrait to the Pope on behalf of the Chicago's American newspaper in 1966. 23. "Gaze in Wonder..." 1974 Douglas Garden Club Standard Amateur Flower Show poster. 20" h x 14" w. Three children admire a flower in the poster's hand water-colored central illustration. 24. Newspaper clippings pasted on front and back of heavy gray paper. "Artist's Hobby is - - Art" Commercial Record, August 20, 1970 and "Now Steinberg Has Time for Hobby" Commercial Record, July 6, 1967.
