Baldhead area circa 1945 - a724A.jpg 2.2MB: From "Off the Record" ... here showing the Beachway and Holiday Hill resorts in the center, the Ferry Store to the far left, and cottages below Mt. Baldhead to the right. In the foreground far right corner is a well-known pastime — a merry-go-round swing. Burning embers from the Big Pavilion fire in 1960 destroyed the [Jane Underwood family] cottage beyond the Ferry Store. The property in the foreground was about to be sold for the construction of a tavern when Frank Wicks provided the funds for the Village to purchase it for a park. [That became Wicks Park]
