Scope and Content

DVD with a presentation titled "A Bird’s Eye View of Saugatuck: A History of the Bird family and their many businesses, including the boat building firm of Rogers & Bird" that was created by Holland Community Television in cooperation with the City of Holland, Continental Cablevision, Community Education of Holland, West Ottawa, Saugatuck and Hamilton. No year is listed. The "movie" runs 49 minutes with the last 6 minutes are blank. The DVD also includes three "music videos" which are slideshows of the presentation photos accompanied by music. The photos have suffered from their use in a video. The presentation narrator may be Jane Van Dis but there are no credits. In addition to individuals, businesses and ships tagged in the relationship profiles below, the presentation mentions the Rogers & Bird-built-ships the steamer City of Holland and the tug Cuckoo, Blanchard's Shingle Mill which is reported to have been located at the Clipson's Brewery Ice House a.k.a Twin Gables Inn, pharmacist Charles Bird's tame squirrels and details about the various homes the family occupied in Saugatuck through the years.
