Scope and Content

Three binders of negatives from the Rob Carey estate. Many of these negatives were used for Carey's postcards and publications. A. Blue binder with Carey's West Michigan Tourist Association business card taped to cover and 1990 calendar taped to inside cover. Photos appear to be personal, of parading veterans, people, "BIA test" Jan. 1992, Christmas 1991, Pinka the horse, Saugatuck bandstand and buildings, horse-drawn wagon, a graduation, tennis, "Macatawa", "Goose 1992" an event on a stage, July 1992 pro volleyball, docks, June 1982 pleasure island. Negatives from a brown binder that was splitting have been added to the back of the blue binder and include: After a white card divider marked "SAUG" is negatives of the Princess paddlewheeler, an event in Grand Rapids, the Tug of War across the Kalamazoo, boats, Native American logos for Crazy Horse and Geronimo, beach and boats, event at Saugatuck bandstand, running race, house or gallery interior, Island Queen boat, lighthouse, Chain Ferry, houseboat, sailboats, portrait of Marty Carey (Rob's spouse) in Saugatuck Police uniform, Butler St., Coral Gables, Peterson Grist Mill, Douglas Union School, People's Store, Historic copies including Big Pavilion photos. After a white card divider marked "LITHS" is 2.5" negatives of photos and illustrations of the Keewatin, Chain Ferry, Saugatuck Village Hall and Peterson Mill, the Butler, logos, decorative frames, historic clip art, Asian and nautical motifs, After a white card divider marked "FAMILY" is negatives of children playing, diving, horseback riding plus portraits, a rock band, aboard a boat named the Mallard, petting deer, posed by Christmas tree, a 1970s car, cat, 1984 Arizona, After a white card divider marked "NATURE" is negatives of grasses, snowfencing, floral and plant close ups. B. Blue binder with "Carey" fireworks photo and Robert Carey Nature Conservancy address label on cover includes negative and positive film of fireworks displays and tourism scenic shots, portrait of Marty Carey (Rob's spouse) in Saugatuck Police uniform, 8x10" prints of Saugatuck Village Hall, the Maplewood Hotel with snow, digitally altered images of Chain Ferry east-side landing, Peterson Mill, Marros, Hard-to-determine Paddlewheeler, Coral Gables, docks, Chain Ferry, tugboat, 3" ektrchrome positive of bandstand covered in snow, Butler Street winter. Pack of 33mm color negatives marked Douglas Centennial 1970 SLIDES: many marked West Michigan Tourism Assoc, men grilling meat, parades, bandstand, Keewatin, Oval Beach, Queen of Saugatuck, 1971 Saugatuck, Saugatuck neon palette sign at night C.
