This image was featured as History Mystery #29 with the solution: The band was the Silver Cornet Band and the photo was taken in the Saugatuck village square.
Research by James T. Faasen uncovered a 1884 newspaper clipping (below) about the organization of Saugatuck Brass Band that included Chris Zwemer, suggesting the photo was taken between 1884 and December 1886, when Mr. Zwemer committed suicide.

Billings, manager; and S. Moreland, secretary and treasurer. The band is made up of the following names: Clarence Hopkins, trombone; Frank Billings, Eb cornet; Bent. Kleeman, Bb cornet; Frank Gteiner, Bb cornet; Lemnel Brown, alto; Chris Zwemer, alto; Stephen Moreland, tenor; Moses B. Nalsh, tenor; Arthur McMillan, tuba; Ira McMillan, snare drum; Joseph Richards, base drum. All members are requested to be on hand tomorrow [Saturday] night.
