Description

Ornate clapboard home with cupola that once stood on the SW corner of Mason and Griffith Streets. The bare yard is patchy with snow. Behind the house, a building with a curved roof, possibly the back of the Ford dealership building on Culver Street, is visible. This image was featured as History Mystery #92 with the question "Built by a lumber baron ca 1855. Where was it who were the first two families to own it?" and the solution "Built in the 1850s by O. R. Johnson, lumber baron, and next owned by two generations of the Brittain family. It was located on the corner of Griffith and Mason where the bank parking lot is today."
