Single sheet of paper with information about the steamer Chicora, six photos of white men that had been aboard the vessel, an ode "Song and Sigh" by Nixon Waterman, a photo of the ship and the April 4 note and bottle thought to be a final message from the doomed. The back of the page is blank. The sheet is behind glass and enclosed in a black frame with gold insert.

Context

Evidence of the emotional impact of the loss, especially in Benton Harbor where the paper was printed by Pictorial Publishing Co. in 1895.
