Description

A dredge barge and workmen pouring concrete wall that will form replacement piers on the outlet of the Kalamazoo River. This image was featured as History Mystery #115 with the question "The new river channel and piers were completed in 1906. What is going on here?" and the solution "By the mid 1930s, the wooden piers were replaced with reinforced concrete as seen here in 1938."
