Area visitors posed with Saugatuck's favorite photo prop: Dynamite the Donkey. The photos were taken at the beach, likely the beach just north of Oval Beach, on Water Street and on or near the Chain Ferry and landing.
Collection also includes an image of "Old Pete," a horse with a similar occupation.

Dynamite was a series of stoic donkeys that were used by the Simonson studio as photo props. Cameramen would march around town offering to take a photo of visitors sitting on or near the animal. The visitor would later drop by the Simonson studio to pick up their print.
According to Kit Lane in the Summertime exhibit, "Every donkey was named Dynamite."Collection
