Context

Dynamite was a series of stoic donkeys that were used by the Simonson studio as photo props. Cameramen would march around town offering to take a photo of visitors sitting on or near the animal. The visitor would later drop by the Simonson studio to pick up their print. According to Kit Lane in the Summertime exhibit, "Every donkey was named Dynamite."
