Nearly forty ships sank in the waters off Berrien County during the years 1834-1912. Most of those wrecked at the St. Joseph harbor only a few hundred yards offshore, with the loss of dozens of lives.
This exhibition guidebook tells the story of those ships, the men and women who sailed them and the work underway today to preserve the maritime heritage. Maritime historians estimate that as many as 10,000 ships lie on the bottom of the Great Lakes. This is a priceless archaeological treasure.Cataloged By
