Before the Blue Star Highway was built, the Chicago-Muskegon Greyhound bus line stopped only in Douglas, but by mid-century a bus stopped at Ed Force's Snug Harbor, much to the delight of visitors and tourism-based businesses in Saugatuck. --- Background research by James T. Faasen, added Oct. 2024 An early bus line, the Lake Shore Limited didn’t last long as the Safety Motor Coach Line was running through the village by August 1925. That company, founded in 1924 is the Greyhound bus line From NATIONAL TAXICAB AND MOTORBUS JOURNAL , August 1925, pg 39, New Bus and Taxicab Enterprises "MUSKEGON, MICH - Leo Langlois, former operator of the Grand Haven Line, and Fred Wortelboer, former owner of the Grand Rapids Fremont Line, have formed the Lake Shore Limited and will operate a bus line between Muskegon and Chicago. It is planned to start with two busses, but it is believed that the business will be such that the addition of more busses will be required.
