Automobile Basket by Ed PigeonEntry/Object ID
2022.67.01Description
Black Ash basket handmade by Native American artist Edmund White Pigeon. The large basket has a rectangular base that expands to an oval-shaped, reinforced rim. The basket has two carved and bent wood carrying handles that are attached to the body of the basket with bent wood loops. The floor of the basket is a simple weave of wood strips. The side walls of the basket are woven in a more complicated, tweed-like pattern created by splitting each bottom strip and varying the weaving rhythm to create diagonal and diamond-shaped patternsCollection
