Scope and Content

9.5 x 14 inch folder containing a brief history, newsletters and photos documenting the last days of the Lakeshore Gardeners. The Lakeshore Gardeners Club started with a small group of men meeting informally in 1993. Men were not allowed to join the Douglas/Saugatuck Garden Club because of their charter being a national organization with specific obligations (women only). Therefore the men decided to form their own club. Informally at first and then more organized until eventually the club reached a membership of about 150. the men, and then later women were invited, enjoyed visiting gardens, speakers and social times. The last meeting before the club was disolved was in 2018.
