Scope and Content

A collection of archival materials related to Saugatuck Christmas celebrations and the sparkle Committee's work. Collection includes an undated, handwritten letter, possibly a draft, from Lynda Petty of 888 Holland Street (Park House) to an unnamed committee, possibly a Christmas Committee, in response to concerns that the lights were damaging the trees on Saugatuck's streets. Attached to the letter is a blank petition form asking lodging establishments to support the "twinkle lights."

Context

Differences of opinion about business district lighting is a perennial issue. The SPARKLE committee was formed to address holiday lighting.
