2021.88.22Description
Two people (one is holding a gas can) stepping off a dock with BOAT TRIPS on the railings. Beyond the people a stern paddlewheeler with a "Kalamazoo River Tours" sign on the roof is visible. According to Cynthia Sorensen, the craft belonged to Gubby Gleason who ran a beach launch for many years to New Richmond.
Oct. 11, 1953 is written on back of photo.
Photo is faded, or was not well exposed, along left edge.
According to Jack Sheridan, "The photo is the Waugon shortly after Dick Hoffman [ca 1952] converted her to a sternwheeler renamed La Carousel. Dick ran trips with her for a couple years, up the river mostly. I did a Remembering When [attached] on the La Carousel. The photo you have, not seen by me before, is of her at the dock along Dick's amusement park, Wicks Park today. That is Dick in the photo. I researched the amusing poison ivy story for the Off the Record book"Photograph Details
