Notes: Alice Mason was active/lived in Michigan and Illinois and was a noted painter, etcher and lithographer. She taught at the Ox-Bow Summer School of Painting in the 1950s.
This image of mushrooms and ferns is at once moody and pleasing. The mushrooms are created with the use of negative color contrasted against the strong greens and browns. The result is a very rich image using basically only two colors.
