A. Fruit Growers Bank envelope with "Village Orders" written on outside. B. Sixteen checks bundled in pink twine, signed by the Saugatuck Village Treasurer R.B. Newnham in 1891. C. Two loose checks from 1897 and signed by clerk L.E. Veits. D. 8.5x11" black-fabric-covered Saugatuck Village (presumed) check book with only receipts remaining that records payments from 1892-1895. Typical payments include to C.C. Billing for hauling, salaries for R.B. Newnham and A.B. Taylor, to John Hirner for building sidewalks, to the Walz brothers for tallow, to Doc Heath for team work, to multiple payees for street work, hauling and removing garbage. E. 1897 accounting page by J. A. Aliber, Village Treasurer, 9x8.5" F. 1897 list of Village yardage account G. 1898 invoice for keeping light in fire engine H. 1897 invoice for J. Overseer of Highways Report of road work list. 27.5x8.5" This long document also includes other expenses like plank sidewalks, cleaning up cyclone wreckage [1896], keeping the fire going in the school building and sawing stove wood for Village Hall.
