Description

Wooden crate to transport 24 bottles or four cartons of 6-bottles. The crate's corners are reinforced with metal straps and have hand hold holes on the short sides. The crate has "Enjoy KIST Beverages" printed with orange paint on the handled end and "KIST Crown Bottling Works, Jefferson, Wis." on the long end.

Context

The local beverage bottling company Kastens had a contract with Citrus Products Co., 11 E. Hubbard St., Chicago, IL to bottle and sell KIST an orange soda. "Best known for its “Kist” brand of carbonated beverages, Chicago’s Citrus Products Company was in operation from 1919 to 1965, concocting the fruit flavorings for a vast network of independent distributors to mix in, bottle up, and ship out."
