A cassette recording made by Michael Sweeney on the occasion of the dedication of the Saugatuck Village Hall Historical Marker in June 1991

Context

Mike Sweeney worked tirelessly to save the Saugatuck City Hall from having an addition added on to it, and the old native burial ground under it disturbed. He lobbied hard with persuasive arguments to remodel the building within its original footprint. He won, and the building was rededicated with a historical marker in 1991. Mike was also the first president and of the Saugatuck Douglas Historical Society which he organized in 1986. The recording also includes music written by Mr. Sweeney.
