Description

Monochrome painting of a great lakes fishing tug Charles J. executed in shades of brown. No signature. Image of the starboard side of the tug on smooth water with a light wash to suggest the sky. The tug was named Charles J. from 1946 to 1983 so painting was either done during those years or later, from a photograph. From https://www.harveyhadland.com/rosterc.htm: CHARLES J. . 249581 Built at Marinette Marine Corp. in 1946, for Walfred Jamsen, Copper Harbor, Mich. This all-steel fish tug, 42 ft. x 13 ft. featured a rounded stern, and extremely raked stem. Power was with a Model D8800 Caterpillar diesel. In 1983 Jamsen sold the boat to Philip Anderson, Kenosha, WI. Anderson renamed her JENNIFER. Some time later the boat was sold to Michael LeClair, Jacksonport, WI. LeClair removed the Caterpillar and installed a Cummins diesel. In 1997 ownership was changed and the boat renamed CHRISTOPHER ROBIN. Image is behind glass with a 3" duponi silk-like mat and .75" black wood frame.
