Scope and Content

Interview with Eleanor Ericson, age 95, at the home of her daughter Joan Stube. Interview conducted by Mary Ann Curtis. Eleanor mentioned her first trip to the area when she was a girl. The family came by steamship and stayed at Tisdale house in Douglas. She roller-skated at the East Shore Pavilion and went to the Big Pavilion, but she wasn't a dancer. She visited Camp Gray as a young lady in 1927 and also frequently visited with her family through the years. Eleanor recalled Mr. Crow's restaurant — "the only good eating place in town" — on Butler Street and Mount Baldhead. She loved the water and trees. "You don't come to Saugatuck to play cards." Extra interview notes about her marriage, Moody Church in Chicago, and her faith.
