Ox Bow with LagoonEntry/Object ID
2021.15.06Description
This is a lithograph print by Francis Chapin. It depicts the lagoon at the Ox-Bow school of art. The lagoon used to be part of the Kalamazoo river, but was eventually naturally blocked off, thus a channel was made connecting Saugatuck more directly to lake Michigan. This means the Ox-Bow and lagoon are a secluded place from artists to study. In this lithograph the lagoon is placed centrally and a sketchy styled wooded area surrounds it.Type of Print
