From photographic negatives created by William R. Simmons, editor of the Commercial Record newspaper between 1941 and 1961.
Photo caption form the 2001 SDHS book "Off the Record" — Corkhill was one of the original members of the Saugatuck Summer Players that staged plays in the Saugatuck High School auditorium under the direction of Jim Webster. He graduated from Saugatuck High School, studied theater at Indiana University, graduating in 1954, served in the U.S. Army, and eventually returned to act, under Jim Dyas, in the oft-remembered production "Ten Nights in a Bar Room" as the Red Barn Theatre. He was last seen in Michigan in the touring production of "Hair." His parents lived in Saugatuck -- his father was the local physician with an office in Douglas. His mother was Superintendent of the Community Hospital in Douglas.Photograph Details
