Context

These buildings, part of the Waldorf-Castoria and Drake grouping on the edge of the Ox-Bow lagoon, were torn down in 1969. The foundation of the chimney remains near the fire pit. The Drake studio is the building with the double doors depicted on the right half of the painting. The Waldorf-Castoria (which was immediately north of the Drake) is hidden by a tree so only the brown rooftop is visible.
