The attached Photo shows the Gibson homestead (circa 1903), family, and several relatives. August & Ida stand in front of the window beside August's sister Sophia. Ida's brother-in-law Claus Wahlen stands at the extreme left of the photo. Children seated from left are David, Ida's nephew Carl Whalen, George, Anna and Charles. ![ER-GeorgeEricksonJuly1968.jpg 223KB: Work environment induced respiratory problems [before OHSA] plagued his later years. George Erickson was a member of the American Legion Bruner-Frehse Post 137 and a life member of Masonic Lodge 328. He became deaf in his mid-fourties, learned to lip-read and prospered in spite of that affliction. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Saugatuck. Being deaf, he had stopped attending church services. Pastor Richard Campbell, in preparation for the funeral message, asked to see his Bible, saw that it was marked and well used — and declared "this man is a Christian".
