Collection of documents about points of interest on the Kalamazoo River including: Two copies of "Points of Interest on the Kalamazoo River" as jotted down by Robert Dyer that include Chaffee Landing, Higgenbotham Bend, Hardscrabble, Huggins Bridge, Bushong stretch, Charles Hills Tavern, Sirrine's landing, Ox Now, Calkins Bayou and Bridge, Swan Creek (large saw mill) and bayou, Bear Creek Landing and dock, Rabbit River, Moore's landing roll way, Dayley's Bayou, High Banks roll way, Griswold's landing (big saw mill), Lowen's Landing ("where Wolf skin had two acres of land under cultivation), Squaw Skin ("that had 2 or 3 Indian families"), Hammond's landing, Big Dayley's Bayou, New Richmond's Lameraux family and draw bridge, Red Banks roll way, Rody's pier, Mack's landing, St. Pier Point, Douglas, Saugatuck, Moore's Landing ("that had a saw mill") and Singapore. Also mentions "Joe McSaube was the Indian Chief. I saw him at Charlevoix about 25 years ago.") One copy has notations and date of 1973 but the list refers to popular landings during the Singapore era. Another version of "Points of Interest on the Kalamaoo River" with edited text and a biography of Robert Dyer at the bottom. "River Boat Landings - Allegan County" a list of 48 landing sites that includes Tyler's Bend, St. Pierre Point (Pierpoint), Peach Orchard, Devil's Neck, Willow Bar, Town's Point, Indian Cut, Upper/Lower Calumet, Mann's Creek, New Richmond, Wine Arbor, Daily Bayou, Hardscrabble Bend, Big Bayou, Palmer/Parmer Bayou, Buckhorn Bayou, Bullhead Bar, Hammond Landing/Height, Chug Island, Calkins/Corkins Bridge, Ox Bow, West Place, Burr Ingham's, Page Cut, Barlow Highback, Double Turn, J. Frank's Highback, Hills Tavern, Ammerman's Landing, Beauchamp/Bushong Bend, Huggins Bridge, Jenner's Rift, Higginbotham Bend, Bush's Dock. 1973 letter from John C. Paul, Allegan Co. Historical Society director to Robert Wolbrink about landings information that mentions Mr. Dyer "an old logger who had a vocabulary that would shock a mule-skinner." Photocopy of brochure "Our Kalamazoo River Valley" produced by the Kalamazoo Valley Natural Resources Council. Includes mention of council's founding in 1960 and map of the river with 12 contemporary parks and recreation areas noted.
