Scope and Content

Copy of a letter from the Grand Rapids Association of Commerce written to a Grand Rapids businessman in 1924. They are discussing a speed trap that the Allegan County Sheriffs office had established in the Saugatuck area which had caused the Grand Rapids Motor Club to call for a boycott of the area. Note his statement concerning the difference between Jesse James and the Allegan sheriff. This print was made from an old glass negative, which explains the crack. In the days before copy machines if you wanted to make several copies of something one way was to photograph the page and print the copies from the photographic negatives. This one was made in the Simonson studio.
