Three costumed women posed in front of a piano. They are dressed as clowns with half dark/half light full body garments gathered at wrist, neck and ankle. They wear tall pointed hats wrapped with cloth and ribbons. Each has a pale tag attached to their chests and smudges of makeup on their faces. The seated woman may be Kate Walz and the standing woman at left may be Olive (Ludwig) Koning. Both standing women are using their thumbs to extend the pockets in their costume.
The women are in an elaborately decorated room with striped wallpaper and frieze, landscape paintings in ornamented frames, a floral-patterned cloth over the piano and patterned carpets. Overhead a light fixture is festooned with streamers. A collection of photos are displayed on the piano.
The photo is mounted to an 8x10 black card with "Royal Photo Co., Grand Rapids" embossed in the lower right.Photograph Details
