This photo is from the collection of Olive Koning (1884-1981). A note, handwritten on the card under the photo, identifies the volunteers as Richard Rode, Fred Walz, Charles Redebaugh, Chris Walz, Fred Metzger, Lee Leland, Dr. Davis, Fred Davis, Ira Koning, Carl Bird, Jim Koning, Homer Adams and Herman Hirner. During this period, the Saugatuck Village Hall served as the firehouse and the firefighting equipment on display was two hose reels (that were pulled by the men to the fire scene) and buckets.
