Mrs. Joe (Agnes) Borgmeyer (sheriff's wife) with white hat, and the sheriff Joe Borgmeyer coming from basement of Wentzville pavilion where the Emma Hepperman hearing was held, ca 1940. Note on back: "Wentzville, Missouri. Emma Heppermann, Mrs. Joe Borgmeyer (the sheriff's wife) and the sheriff behind the two, coming from the basement of the Wentzville Pavilion where the hearing was held. Wentzville has quite a colored population, and those folks were just as mjuch interested in the proceedings as were the white folks." (2 copies)
