Fort at the Peruque Bridge on the N. Missouri Railroad, Civil War - August 31, 1862. The fort was completed on this date under command of Captain H. B. Denker, Co. E, 7th Regiment Militia. Those recognized in the picture: Captain Henry B. Denker seated reading paper; Charles Daudt; Herman Steinbrinker; Joseph H. Thro; Federick Linne Mann; Henry Angert; Henry Bode; John Belker; Norman Diedrich Sandfort; and Alex Garvin. This fort was near what is now the Lake St. Louis Exit on westbound I-70.
