Description

House in Augusta, MO, north end of Lower Street. On back: "This was originally owned by Grumke. Arnsburg lived here. Later, Frank Besse has a shoe maker's shop in the S.W. corner of this house and lived there also. Mr. Besse was a collector of clocks; there were Seth Thomas clocks, cuckoo clocks and many others on shelves lining the three walls of the shop. Most of them were covered with dust. It was a treat to sit on the shoe bench nad study these clocks whiile waiting." 1976
