On July 18, 1891, Edward L. Meyer, jeweler, bought the property on the corner of Sixth and Washington. The house was built in approximately 1892 - 93. This house was unique in its time not only because of the tower but it was the first to have electricity on the hill above Main Street and receive it free for one year.

Description

On July 18, 1891, Edward L. Meyer, jeweler, bought the property on the corner of Sixth and Washington. The house was built in approximately 1892 - 93. This house was unique in its time not only because of the tower but it was the first to have electricity on the hill above Main Street and receive it free for one year. The woodwork inside the house is cherry and everything is in its original state. The ceilings are 10' 6" high. Mr. Meyer and his wife May Frances had four children: Milton (who later bought the house at 505 Clark); Earl; Masie; and Lucille. The house has always remained in the family and is now owned by Mrs. Lucille Piepers, Edward Meyer's daughter. - Seybert Collection
