Description

Picture/Articel in The St. Charles Post, Thursday. December 30, 1982. Old stone home. Built pre-Civil War. One-room stone home facing Femme Osage road near New Melle. Owner(Dec. 30,1982) Edgar Meyer. Damaged by arson fire, planned to be rebuilt. Sits on land once owned by Nathan Boone, son of Daniel Boone. Meyer, of Washington, MO., has deed to property with Nathan Boone's name on it.. Meyer says fire destroyed hand-cut wooden floors and beams in building, as were a walnut mantle and frame around stone fireplace. Meyer, 64, said home has been in his family since about 1900. Apparently was built by settlers before Civil War. Later, home apparently used as slave quarters, after a larger two-story home was bult nearby.
