The race for the border mobilization.- WWI. Note on back of picture: "An incident of the Border Mobilization. The race for the Border when the New York & Mass. militia were sent west. By the time they got to the middle west, it had developed into a rivalry which regiments should get to the border first. The picture shows the troop train of the lst New York going at full speed through a middle west city (St. Charles). This and an accompanying picture are good troop train pictures and both were made about 6 o"clock in the evening. The train going at full speed pulled by the largest type mogul engine.
