These windows were originally gifted to the City of Seattle in April 1962 by Max Ingrand, one of France's greatest stained glass artists. The offer of the gift came while Ingrand was in charge of the general design of the French exhibit at the Seattle World's Fair. His generous offer came in part as the result of a conversation with Norman Davis, Fine Arts Director for the Fair.
The windows were designated for placement over the southern doors of the vestibule between the Opera House and the Exhibition Hall at the Seattle Center. They were removed in 2001 to make way for the new Opera House construction.
