This found-object sculpture references two aspects of life in Washington state: the booming biotech industry and gentrification. Although Washington has a reputation for progressive politics, the region's widening income gaps reinforce racial segregation and limit opportunities for Black residents.

Label

This assemblage sculpture explores how two groups can live side by side, yet rarely connect on a human level. A pair of petri dishes capture miniature “frozen Charlotte” dolls, one white, one black. They sit on a science-themed background collage that evokes Washington’s biotech industry. Below them is a collection of tiny tubes, some empty, some holding small shells and fragments.
