Flo Perkins’s work takes inspiration from the native flora of her home state, New Mexico, including a variety of cacti and other plants. The artist views both glass and plants as having a similar technical process. In blowing glass, the bubble forms, then the opening and folding. Just as in the blooming of a plant, a flowers buds, then the blossoming and collapsing. This yellow, pincushion, cactus has vertical rows of needle clusters.
