This piece comprises a series of digital scans taken in the sunlight near the spot where the artwork is now. The artist explains: “In 2019, I sat, cross-legged, on a patch of sidewalk in front of a construction fence and with a scanner and my laptop, took several scans that ran for an hour each.” In documenting the light, the artist “wanted to honor the history of this land, this place, and all of the living beings who have traversed it—considering the poetics around what the sunlight might hold in its memory and how a shadow is a moving painting that tells the history of a place.”
