This mask represents the future existence of Indigenous peoples. Though our populations were diminished and our cultures suppressed, we have continued on, carrying our people and our stories foward. We are remembering who we are and bringing forth the strength of our ancestors, our traditions, and our cultures. If you ask "how long will you be here?" we will answer " Tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, the day after that..." The mask design is based on an old ivory figure of a "seal monster." The post design is based on the Rock People found on the hills of Tununak, AK.
