Robert Hardgrave describes his composition as “a love letter to the city of Seattle.” Featured throughout the dramatic black and white artwork are photographs of the lush greenery from Freeway Park and other city parks, historic facades, and architectural details from the surrounding neighborhoods. The composition is divided into three sections: the roof area depicts a walk through the Convention Center Arch, or at least the artist’s memories of it; the wall viewable from the street represents the verdant landscapes; and the bottom panel is an imaginary, future view of Seattle.
