This functional artwork is part of three interconnected pieces that express welcome, belonging, and gratitude. When suppliers complete their deliveries and exit the Seattle Convention Center’s loading dock, they are waved away with a set of four mirrored hands. As the door opens, the hands come together in symbolic applause, adding a final gesture of ‘Thank you & Goodbye’.
Thank You & Goodbye is designed in concert with companion pieces Gather and Grounding in the loading dock of the convention center. Together, the three artworks are intended to foster a sense of community ownership and open-handed welcome.
