The forms in the Shelter series are created with a Venetian technique called, “Pastarelli.” The process requires pulling approximately 150 feet of cane which is then cut and spirals upward around the vessel. The artist intends the work to connect with refuge, harbor, and dwelling. The shape is reminiscent of a cornucopia, a horn shaped vessel bearing the abundance of fruits and flora.
