Seattle George Monument is a wind vane sculpture created by artist Buster Simpson. It features portraits of Chief Seattle and President George Washington. The central silhouette of Chief Seattle supports growing ivy. A cutout profile of George Washington moves with the wind around the sculpture. The artist notes, "The Indigenous culture is figuratively a foundation upon which the present is an overlay. The silhouettes are appropriated from both city and state government logos just as what was done with the name Seattle." This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Convention and Trade Center.
