William Morris’s Petroglyph series explores Paleolithic cave art, which he interpreted with images of antlered stags in various positions, executed in a painting of glass powders. By means of this challenging technique, the powders are arranged on a steel plate, heated, and then picked up onto the vessel during the blowing process.
