The artist began his commission to commemorate the Honda Riach building by tapping into his feelings for Seattle as a “city on the move.” The artwork features historical photos of the original Oldsmobile dealership, as well as images that depict highlights from its history, such as the Oldsmobile named the official car of the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. As counterpoint to the black and white images, the artist recreated the “colorful and futuristic Oldsmobile advertisements from a time of space exploration and excitement.”
