90.15.3Description
Photograph of groundbreaking for new Aldridge Hotel in McAlester, Oklahoma. There are many people standing around the site where the groundbreaking is about to take place. Some of the people are sitting on the grounds, and most of the men are wearing hats, and some of the ladies are holding umbrellas to shield them from the sun. In the center of the site is a sign that reads:
The New $750,000.00 Hotel Aldridge.
E. C. Aldridge
O. B. Sherritt
Owners
Guy C. Reid
Architect
Oklahoma City
Harmon & Mattison Cons. Co.
General Contractors.
Oklahoma City, OK
Beside the sign a truck with a flat-bed trailor attached to it is parked, and eight men are standing on the trailor, apparently overlooking the site. In front of the sign there are two men, both in white shirts, and dark pants. A shovel is stuck in the ground between them.
All around the block there are automobiles parked. In the background there is a white building with a basement and brick buildings in the far distance. The photograph has the words "Browns Studio" printed in the bottom right corner. The back of the photograph has the words "Aldridge in Shawnee" written in dark ink, but records show the site is in McAlester.
