Released by Ideal Toy Corporation around 1973-1974, Baby Crissy was a large 24-inch toddler doll designed with a "growing hair" feature activated by a pull-string, similar to her 18-inch fashion doll sister. She featured auburn rooted hair, stationary eyes, and was reissued in the early 1980s.
Founded in 1903 by Morris and Rose Michtom, Ideal Toy Corporation became a post-WWII giant known for "unbreakable" composition dolls, moving to plastic in the 1940s-50s. Iconic dolls like Shirley Temple (1934), Betsy Wetsy (1937), Miss Revlon (1950s), and Crissy (1969) solidified their market leadership. The company was sold to CBS in 1982, later merging into Mattel by 1997.Collection
