Context

Founded in 1903 by Morris and Rose Michtom, Ideal Toy Corporation became a post-WWII giant known for "unbreakable" composition dolls, moving to plastic in the 1940s-50s. Iconic dolls like Shirley Temple (1934), Betsy Wetsy (1937), Miss Revlon (1950s), and Crissy (1969) solidified their market leadership. The company was sold to CBS in 1982, later merging into Mattel by 1997.
