Description

Pictured is an earl 1960's iteration of the Cheney Studs basketball team. The Cheney Studs was the brainchild of Tacoma legend Ben Cheney who created a competitive AAU basketball program, as well as other sport teams, to give college players a chance to play while out of school for the summer. The Studs players ended up becoming some of the finest coaches the state of Washington has seen. Pictured are, back row: Tom Cross, Marty Erdhal, Gene Lundgaard, Bob Ross, Al Maul, Jack Johnson. Front row: Bruce Alexander, Ron Storaasli, Dick Webster.
